Sales Management Trainee (Intern)

Arlington Heights, IL

May 2017 - September 2018

To better develop emotional intelligence related skills, I decided to complete a sales internship before my senior year of college began. At Enterprise, I would interact with several different types of customers: business travelers, dealerships/repair shops, and insurance customers who recently got in an accident. As a sales intern, I developed several strategies to not only ensure they had the easiest transition possible to a new vehicle, but to also meet my sales goals by encouraging vehicle upgrades and protection plans. As a result of my efforts, I achieved the following:

  • Ranked 1st out of 12 interns in the sales matrix for the northwest suburbs area; 17th of 65 for all Chicagoland interns.

  • Submitted at-least 10 car sale leads per month, which resulted in numerous car sales.

  • Resolved any client grievances and built positive relationships that resulted in growth and profits.

  • Prepared rental forms, obtained customer registrations, and explained the rental process.

Fall 2015 - Spring 2018

After graduating from Barrington High School in 2014, I attended Northern Illinois University to

My high school media teacher, Dr. Jeffrey Doles, was able to connect me to the NIU Department of Informational Technology (DoIT). I was able to start an internship as a Student Video Technician the summer before my first semester. With this position:

  • I assisted in the ESPN3 broadcast of NIU sports: college football, basketball, and volleyball.

  • Set up and operated Daktronics video board equipment as well as HD broadcast equipment.

  • Solved immediate complications on the fly, such as malfunctioning equipment or schedule changes.

  • Recorded football practices for performance analysis/video coaching.

Starting my sophomore year, I also took on the added responsibilities of the Community Advisor Internship (commonly known as a “resident assistant” at other colleges). This opportunity served as an excellent learning experience to build leadership skills by serving as a role model and mentor to other students living in my residence hall. In this position:

  • I collaborated with councilors and other campus recourses to develop programs that address the needs of individual students.

  • Mediated problems between residents. Counsel students in the handling of issues such as social, financial, and educational. I was also responsible for observing students to detect and report unusual behavior.

  • Lead a community of residents in discussions and meetings about policies and standards.
